In VCE Psychology Unit 2, students delve into how social cognition shapes attitudes, self-perception, and relationships. They explore various factors that influence individual and group behaviour, recognising the diverse experiences and values across different cultures. Students are encouraged to reflect on the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australian society and how these may impact psychological functioning.

Students investigate both classical and contemporary research to understand human perception and behaviour, the effects of media on the psyche. They examine how our perception of stimuli affects interactions with the world and how this perception can sometimes be distorted.

In Area of Study 3, students conduct a scientific investigation, either adapted or designed by themselves, focusing on primary data related to internal and external influences on behaviour and mental processes. This investigation builds on the knowledge and skills from Area of Study 1 and/or Area of Study 2.
